Yuletide group project

Our 3rd group task I was set the task of, in groups of 4, to rebrand a christmas wholesalers. This involved creating a new logo and also creating a splash page and an example of a page that the website would have on it. As a group, we thought it would be useful to do some research for this group project. We research different designs for websites, this enabled us to gauge an understanding of how a good website should look like, and in turn, will use this knowledge when creating our website ideas.

After our research, we knew roughly what was expected from a good website, so we based our initial ideas with our research in mind. For our initial ideas, we had to make the website suitable for christmas, this meant we had to pick the right colour scheme for the website. Our first idea was to use red, gold and green as these are conventional christmas colours. Our goal was to use a colour scheme that would be bias neutral as we didn’t want to favour any company that used our website.

After discussing our ideas, we made some website ideas and logo ideas. What we made can be seen below.

After this, we altered these first attempts into our final website and logo. We changed little things on the logo to make it more applicable to what the brief wanted us to do. We added the star into it to make it relatable to new years and christmas. With the website we wanted to change the layout from the one we did originally and also we altered the layout a bit to make it look more professional.

Overall I think this group task a success however, as we are still coming to grips with using photoshop and dreamweaver, making the mockup website and logo proved difficult to myself and some of my group. However, that is what the task is all about, learning and using new things. I believe I learnt a lot from this task and I can use what I learnt in this task and apply it to tasks similar to this in the future.
